Fully Funded Doctoral Position in Immunology and Stem Cell Biology

Eligibility/Qualification:
- Candidates must not hold a doctoral degree at the time of recruitment.
- Applicants should not have resided or carried out their main activity in Italy for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately before their recruitment date.
- A master’s degree relevant to the position (biology, medicine, biochemistry, bioinformatics, or related discipline) is required, or an equivalent qualification by the contract start date.
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is essential.
- Strong background in stem cell biology, telomere biology, and/or immunology is preferred.
- Experience with stem cell culture techniques, flow cytometry, and genetic engineering technologies, including CRISPR-Cas9, will be advantageous.
Description: The IMMERGE MSCA Doctoral Network aims to recruit 12 outstanding doctoral candidates to investigate Inborn Errors of Immunity (IEI) across various disciplines. The selected candidate for Doctoral Candidate 6 will focus on dissecting the role of dysfunctional telomeres in stem cell biology and immunity. The project will involve generating DC-like human hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPCs) using CRISPR-Cas technology to study the mechanisms underlying bone marrow failure and immune dysfunctions in patients with Dyskeratosis Congenita (DC). The research will be conducted under the supervision of Dr. Raffaella Di Micco at Ospedale San Raffaele SRL, Milan, with planned secondments at other partner institutions.
