Research Area:

The research focuses on innate immunity, the identification of microproteins in innate immune cells, and the molecular mechanisms regulating the immune response.


Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Master’s degree (advanced level) with a total of at least 240 ECTS credits, including:
  • Minimum 30 ECTS in chemistry (with at least 7.5 ECTS in biochemistry)
  • 45 ECTS in biology or molecular biology (including at least 7.5 ECTS in genetics and 22.5 ECTS in microbiology, physiology, or cell and molecular biology)
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Experience in molecular biology techniques, tissue culture, and programming is advantageous.

Description:

The doctoral researcher will participate in the Molecular Biology Department at Umeå University, including collaboration with the Laboratory for Molecular Infection Medicine Sweden (MIMS) and the Umeå Centre for Microbial Research (UCMR). The researcher will focus on understanding how innate immune cells respond to pathogens by analyzing the transcriptomic and proteomic landscapes. In addition to conducting research, the candidate will be part of a doctoral education program at the Medical Faculty.
