This position is part of a multidisciplinary research project aimed at enhancing NMR sensitivity through metal-free catalysis, led by Associate Professor Vladimir Zhivonitko.

DOCTORAL RESEARCHER IN NMR SPIN HYPERPOLARIZATION AND METAL-FREE CATALYSIS

Designation: Doctoral Researcher

Research Area: NMR spin hyperpolarization, metal-free catalysis, experimental NMR spectroscopy, nuclear spin hyperpolarization using parahydrogen, molecular modeling, and catalysis using metal-free compounds.

Location: Oulu, Finland

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Master’s degree in chemistry, physics, or equivalent field
  • Proficiency in NMR spectroscopy, organic and organometallic chemistry, catalysis, or computational chemistry
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Highly motivated with excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Familiarity with synthetic chemistry, quantum-chemical software, and the intersection of chemistry and physics is beneficial

Job Description:
As a doctoral researcher, you will be part of a dynamic team at the NMR Research Unit within the Faculty of Science at the University of Oulu. The role involves studying, designing, and applying new types of metal-free catalysts for parahydrogen-induced polarization (PHIP) and signal amplification by reversible exchange (SABRE) using both experimental and theoretical methods. The specific research focus will align with the interests of the doctoral researcher, covering a broad spectrum of topics at the chemistry-physics interface.

How to Apply:
Interested candidates should submit their applications through the university’s recruitment system by 30th September 2024 (23:59 Finnish local time). The application must include:
