Eligibility/Qualification
- A relevant Master’s degree in biology, ecology, physical geography, hydrology, soil science, environmental science, or a related field (must be completed before starting).
- Initial research plan
- Ability and motivation for doctoral studies
- Basic understanding of statistical data analysis
- Basic programming knowledge (R, Python, or Julia)
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Good communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with satellite remote sensing data
- Experience collecting and analyzing drone imagery
- Identification skills in northern plant species
Job Description
The doctoral researcher will be responsible for:
- Conducting fieldwork in northern Finland, Sweden, and Norway
- Collecting and analyzing datasets on plant communities and soil properties
- Participating in the assessment of ecosystem changes due to snow conditions
- Integrating satellite data into ecological models
- Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to study hydrological and ecological interactions
- Publishing three high-quality research articles
