The University of Helsinki Doctoral School (UHDS) is inviting applications for 30 fully-funded, four-year doctoral researcher positions starting between 1 January and 31 March 2027. These positions are part of the international, interdisciplinary RESDOC doctoral training project, co-funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe MSCA COFUND scheme.

Job Description
As a doctoral researcher, you will:
- Conduct full-time doctoral research leading to a PhD degree.
- Be enrolled in one of the university’s 14 doctoral programmes matching your field.
- Collaborate within an international, multidisciplinary research community.
- Engage in temporary secondments or research visits at associated partner organizations.
- Receive academic supervision from leading experts in your field.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, candidates must fulfill the following criteria by the 31 August 2026 deadline:
- Hold a Master’s degree or equivalent (must not already hold a PhD).
- Be an early-stage researcher (less than 4 years of research experience).
- Mobility Rule: Must not have resided or carried out main activities in Finland for more than 12 months in the 36 months preceding the deadline.
- Be willing to reside in Finland for the full 4-year duration.
- Meet the University of Helsinki’s English language requirements.
- Not be permanently employed by the University of Helsinki.
