Doctoral Researchers – DFG Research: Leipzig University, in collaboration with various institutes, is establishing a new research training group, ECO-N, focusing on the Economics of Connected Natural Commons: Atmosphere and Biodiversity. The group invites applications for 14 Doctoral Researcher positions, contributing to interdisciplinary projects at the intersection of economics, meteorology, and biology. This exciting opportunity involves in-depth research on sustainable use and conservation of natural commons related to atmosphere and biodiversity.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Master’s degree in economics, meteorology, biology, or related disciplines.
  • Strong interest in sustainable use and conservation of natural commons.
  • Profound knowledge in quantitative research methods (statistics, econometrics, modeling).
  • Fluent English communication skills (speaking and writing).
  • Team-oriented with openness to interdisciplinary and international collaboration.

Job Description:

  • Conduct quantitative research on sustainable use of specific natural commons in interdisciplinary teams.
  • Write and publish scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals; present research at conferences.
  • Participate in disciplinary doctoral programs and advanced training modules of the research training group.
  • Contribute to doctoral seminars and events within the research training group.
  • Opportunity to contribute to synthesis working groups as part of the research training group.
