Eligibility/Qualification:
- You hold a Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Bioscience Engineering, Veterinary Sciences, Medicine, or an equivalent field by the start date.
- Demonstrated excellent study results.
- Teaching competences aligned with the University of Antwerp’s educational vision.
- Research qualities in line with the university’s research policies.
- Attention to quality, integrity, creativity, and cooperation.
- Experience with techniques such as cell culture, genome engineering, fluorescence microscopy, and bioinformatics is recommended.
Job Description:
- Actively working on the preparation of a PhD thesis on cell plasticity in glioblastoma.
- Conducting molecular dissection of patient-derived glioblastoma cells with varying aggressiveness.
- Studying their infiltrative capacity in cerebral organoids using cutting-edge microscopy technologies.
- Publishing scientific articles related to the research project.
- Performing limited teaching and research support tasks for the Laboratory of Cell Biology and Histology.
What We Offer:
- A doctoral scholarship for a period of two years, renewable for another two years following a positive evaluation.
- Planned start date: October 1st, 2024, or as soon as possible thereafter.
- Monthly scholarship amount calculated according to the university’s pay scales for Contract Research Staff.
