Eligibility/Qualification
- Hold an academic Master’s degree in Chemistry, bio-engineering, applied sciences (engineering), or civil engineering, with a specialization in chemistry. Candidates who complete their Master’s degree by the appointment date are also eligible.
- Demonstrate excellent study results and teaching competence in line with the University of Antwerp’s educational vision.
- Show research qualities consistent with the faculty and university research policies.
- Be motivated and committed to a doctoral project, with an interest in applying for external fellowships (e.g., FWO fellowships 2026).
- Fluency in English and Dutch.

Job Description
- Actively prepare and defend a PhD thesis in analytical chemistry under the supervision of Prof. Frederik Lermyte.
- Conduct research, publish scientific articles, and disseminate findings at conferences.
- Fulfill various teaching, research, and service support tasks for the Department of Chemistry.
