Location: Aachen, Germany

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Successful completion of a Master’s thesis in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Biology, Bioengineering, or a related field
  • Experience in classical and/or modern cloning techniques is advantageous
  • Ideally, knowledge of microbiology and biochemistry of aerobic/anaerobic organisms
  • Proficiency in fermentation of microorganisms is beneficial
  • Strong knowledge of chemistry and/or biochemistry
  • Expertise in chemical analytics (e.g., gas and liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry)
  • Demonstrated publication activity
  • Proficiency in German and English

Job Description:

  • Cultivation of microorganisms (aerobic/anaerobic)
  • Metabolic engineering of syngas-fermenting microorganisms
  • Fermentation in a gas-fermentation facility at a 3.7L scale
  • Characterization of product strains at transcript, protein, and product levels
  • Analytical work using GC-MS and LC-MS/MS
  • Contribution to publications, patents, and presentations
