Summary
KTH Royal Institute of Technology is offering a doctoral scholarship for a highly motivated student to work within the GEOMANIP project. This ERC Starting Grant project aims to revolutionize the robotic manipulation of deformable objects by integrating their fundamental geometric nature into novel continuum physics-inspired neural representations. The research will focus on developing a physically-grounded manipulation pipeline encompassing perception, planning, and control.

Eligibility/Qualification
Basic Eligibility:
- Passed a second-cycle degree (e.g., a Master’s degree), OR
- Completed course requirements of at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 second-cycle higher education credits, OR
- Acquired substantially equivalent knowledge in some other way.
Mandatory Requirements:
- English proficiency equivalent to English B/6.
Desired Skills and Background:
- Goal-oriented and persevering.
- Ability to independently pursue work and collaborate effectively.
- Professional approach, strong analytical skills.
- Experience with programming languages such as Python or C++.
- Background in machine learning, robotics, and/or differential geometry (differential geometry is an advantage).
- Experience with real robots is an advantage.
Scholarship Description
The successful candidate will be employed as a doctoral student for a maximum of four years full-time, with potential for renewal. The position includes a monthly salary according to KTH’s Doctoral student salary agreement and access to a workplace with various employee benefits. Doctoral students may also perform limited administrative or teaching tasks (maximum 20%) within their role.
