Eligibility / Qualification

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Masterโ€™s degree (120 credits) or Magister degree (60 credits) in Physics, Chemistry, or Materials Science
  • Strong written and spoken English communication skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively

Note: Applicants with education outside Sweden may apply with a 4-year Bachelorโ€™s degree.

Job Description

The selected doctoral student will:

  • Conduct advanced research within the Graduate School of Physics or Materials Science
  • Use electronic-structure methods, molecular dynamics, and machine learning to study chargeโ€“lattice interactions
  • Develop theoretical and computational frameworks to understand polaron effects in solar-energy materials
  • Analyze material properties and identify design principles for high-efficiency solar absorbers
  • Collaborate with experimental research partners
  • Publish research results in scientific journals and present findings at international conferences
  • Participate in teaching or departmental duties (up to 20% of working hours)

Scholarship / Contract Details

  • Fully funded PhD position from the start
  • Duration: 4 years (extendable up to 5 years with teaching duties)
  • Monthly salary: 34,550 SEK (valid from May 25, 2025)
  • Physical presence in Sweden is required throughout the study period
  • Valid residence permit must be obtained before the start date
