Research Area

Hydrogen combustion engines, focusing on flow and mixing phenomena in spark-ignited, direct-injected hydrogen engines to achieve high efficiency and minimal emissions.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • A second-cycle qualification or equivalent (240 credits, including at least 60 credits from the second cycle).
  • A Master’s degree relevant to the field.
  • Minimum 90 credits in energy sciences or related fields (60 credits from second-cycle courses, 30 credits from a relevant project).
  • Good proficiency in English.
  • Knowledge of thermodynamics.

Description

The research project aims to advance understanding of hydrogen combustion engines, contributing to sustainable transport initiatives. Students will conduct experimental research on air-hydrogen mixing processes and their impact on ignition and combustion dynamics. The role includes:

  • Driving project progress and ownership.
  • Developing and utilizing experimental setups.
  • Writing scientific articles.
  • Participation in departmental activities (limited to 20% of working time).
  • Opportunities for research travel to national and international collaborations.

You will work under the guidance of experienced supervisors in a collaborative environment with industry partners.
