Eligibility/Qualification
- Must be a postdoctoral researcher seeking an academic faculty position.
- Currently completing a postdoc in the United States.
- Research must align with work pursued at Fred Hutch.
- Plans to enter the academic job market in the fall of 2026 or beyond.
- Must not have entered the academic job market or accepted a faculty position.
- Non-U.S. citizens are eligible if completing their postdoctoral fellowship in a U.S.-based lab.
Job Description
The Dr. Eddie Méndez Scholar Award recognizes outstanding postdoctoral fellows who are committed to advancing knowledge in cancer, infectious disease, or basic science. Recipients will receive an honorarium, present their research findings at the Méndez Symposium, and engage in invaluable networking opportunities with esteemed scientists and faculty at Fred Hutch.
Selected scholars will deliver a 20-minute presentation followed by a Q&A session at the symposium, participate in one-on-one meetings with faculty, and tour the facilities at Fred Hutch. Travel accommodations will be provided for the symposium.
