Early Postdoctoral Researcher – Yellow Fever: The Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) is seeking an Early Postdoctoral Researcher for a three-year Wellcome-funded project focused on assessing the durability of the immune response generated by fractional and full standard doses of yellow fever vaccine in children and adults in Kenya and Uganda.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- Essential:
- Ph.D. in Immunology or Vaccinology.
- 0 – 4 years post-doctoral experience.
- Proven experience in performing immunological assays.
- Proficiency in using analytical software packages such as STATA and R.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Desirable:
- Experience in vaccine immunology, particularly in conducting B cell and T cell assays.
- Demonstrated contribution to scientific research as a co-author on at least two peer-reviewed publications.
Job Description:
The successful candidate will:
- Coordinate sampling, sample shipment, and other study procedures.
- Perform immunological assays and develop or adapt assays for assessing yellow fever antibodies and other emerging pathogens.
- Provide supervision and training support for junior lab members.
- Collaborate in the preparation of scientific reports and journal articles, and occasionally present papers and posters.
- Manage academic research and administrative activities, coordinating multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines.
- Use specialist scientific equipment in a laboratory environment and maintain an updated record of all experimental results.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners in immunology and vaccine development.
- Ensure the biological safety of the laboratory while potentially being exposed to infectious materials and/or biohazards.
