Eligibility/Qualification

  • A Ph.D. degree in physical chemistry, chemical physics, condensed matter physics, statistical physics, theoretical physics, or a related field, obtained before commencement at CMM.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing software for atomic modeling (Python, C, etc.).
  • Expertise in quantum chemistry or force-field-based software (e.g., Gaussian, VASP, CP2K, LAMMPS, OpenMM).
  • Strong understanding of statistical physics and thermodynamics.
  • Excellent scientific writing and research skills.

Job Description

The successful candidate will:

  • Establish and implement a general stress control algorithm compatible with existing molecular dynamics codes.
  • Investigate phase transitions and stability in materials under anisotropic stress stimuli.
  • Contribute to the ERC Starting Grant STRAINSWITCH, aimed at revolutionizing the design of functional nanostructured materials through strain engineering.
  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team and across various research disciplines.
