ERCIM Postdoctoral Fellowship in Leading European Research Institutes

ERCIM Fellowships for PhD Holders: The ERCIM Fellowship Programme offers bright, young scientists from around the world the chance to conduct research at leading European research centers. This program fosters collaboration and expands networks among scientists.

Designation: Fellow

Research Area: Topics focus on the ERCIM institutes’ scientific fields of competence (see http://fellowship.ercim.eu/topics).

Location: ERCIM member institutes (see “participating ERCIM members” on the ERCIM website for a list of possible hosting institutes). When an ERCIM member is a consortium, the hosting institute might be any of the consortium’s members. When an ERCIM Member is a funding organisation, the hosting institute might be any of their affiliates.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD degree obtained within the last 8 years (prior to the application year deadline) or be in the last year of thesis work with an outstanding academic record. Proof of the PhD degree will be required before starting the grant.
  • Researchers from academic institutions and scientists working in industry are encouraged to apply.
  • Mobility requirements:
    • A member institute will not be eligible to host a candidate of the same nationality.
    • A candidate cannot be hosted by a member institute if, by the application deadline, they have already worked for that institute (including PhD or postdoc studies) for a total of 6 months or more during the last 3 years.

Job Description:

  • The selected fellows will work on challenging research problems within the ERCIM member institutes.
  • Fellows are expected to spend at least one week visiting another ERCIM member institute.
  • Fellows are encouraged to attend and submit papers to scientific conferences.
  • The fellowship is a 12-month appointment.
  • Fellows will receive a monthly allowance or salary, depending on the hosting institute and contract type.
  • Fellows may have the opportunity to work with internationally recognized experts and improve their knowledge of European research structures and networks.
