Eligibility/Qualification
- PhD degree, preferably in Bioscience Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in the waste sector, including knowledge of typical waste streams and existing recycling processes.
- Interest in scientific research related to sustainability, packaging, and recycling technology.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, suitable for an academic context.
- Strong organizational skills and high motivation.
- Experience and networking with industry is a plus.
Job Description
The successful candidate will join a young and dynamic team of approximately 30 researchers in the Circular Process Engineering lab, led by Prof. Steven De Meester. The primary responsibilities include:
- Mapping various waste streams.
- Linking and techno-economically optimizing de-inking processes for these waste streams.
- Conducting scientific research to advance chemical engineering in the circular economy, with a specific focus on pretreatment and downstream processing in plastic recycling.
