Faculty Positions in Molecular Microbiology: The Department of Molecular Microbiology at Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine invites applications for several tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant Professor level. We are looking for innovative scientists to join our highly collaborative research community, with a focus on microbiology, host-pathogen interactions, emerging infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance, structural biology, and women’s infectious disease. Candidates from diverse backgrounds and those with interdisciplinary approaches are especially encouraged to apply.

Research Area:
Molecular Microbiology with an emphasis on host-pathogen interactions, antimicrobial resistance, mycobacterial diseases, structural biology, women’s infectious disease, and emerging infectious diseases.

Location:
Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis, Missouri

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Molecular Microbiology or related field
  • Strong publication record
  • Research focus in one or more of the following areas: microbiology, host-pathogen interactions, emerging infectious disease, antimicrobial resistance, structural biology, and women’s infectious disease
  • Commitment to diversity and interdisciplinary research
  • Candidates working on women’s infectious diseases will also be appointed to the Center for Women’s Infectious Disease Research. Those focusing on mycobacterial diseases are encouraged to apply for the Washington University Interdisciplinary Initiative for Mycobacterial Research and Treatment.

Job Description:
The successful candidates will:

  • Develop a cutting-edge, externally funded research program in molecular microbiology.
  • Engage in teaching and mentoring graduate and professional students.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments, supported by Washington University’s extensive core facilities, including genomics, small-molecule screening, Cryo-EM, and high-performance computing resources.
  • Utilize state-of-the-art biocontainment labs (BSL-3) and participate in a vibrant microbial pathogenesis community.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary initiatives and contribute to ongoing collaborative research in the field of mycobacterial diseases and women’s infectious diseases.
