Location
The research position is based at the Instituto de Física Gleb Wataghin (IFGW), located at the Universidade Estadual de Campinas (Unicamp) in Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil. Unicamp is globally recognized as one of the premier research institutions in Latin America.
Eligibility and Qualifications
Applicants must meet the following mandatory and desirable qualifications:
Mandatory Requirements
- A recent Ph.D. degree (obtained within the last 7 years) in Physics, Engineering Physics, Materials Science, or closely related disciplines.
- Solid background and general knowledge in magnetism.
- Demonstrated practical experience across all three key pillars: simulation, nanofabrication, and magnetic characterization.
Desirable Skills and Expertise
- Simulation: Proficiency in atomistic simulations and/or micromagnetic simulations.
- Nanofabrication: Hands-on experience with thin-film deposition techniques and focused-ion beam (FIB) patterning.
- Magnetic Characterization: Familiarity with magnetometry, magnetic force microscopy (MFM), nanoMOKE, and advanced synchrotron radiation techniques (such as XMCD and PEEM).
Scholarship Description
The successful candidate will receive a tax-exempt FAPESP post-doctoral fellowship stipend of R$ 12,570.00 per month. The appointment is scheduled to start in November 2026.
The fellowship recipient will investigate magnetic multilayers designed for the controlled propagation of topological spin textures, specifically tackling challenges related to the skyrmion Hall effect and the fabrication of racetracks for advanced spintronic applications. Core responsibilities include:
- Conducting atomistic simulations of skyrmions, bimerons, and skyrmioniums to evaluate their stability and dynamics near lateral interfaces and under spin-transfer torque (STT).
- Fabricating multilayer magnetic thin films and patterned racetrack architectures.
- Performing comprehensive experimental characterization to compare physical measurements against theoretical and computational simulations.
- Identifying optimized conditions to achieve reliable guided spin texture propagation.
How to Apply
Interested candidates must submit their application directly via email to the Principal Investigator, Prof. Fanny Béron, at fberon@ifi.unicamp.br.
Your application email must use the subject line “PostDoc CRISQuaM” and include the following documents in PDF format:
- Updated Curriculum Vitae (CV) highlighting publications and technical skills.
- Letter of interest outlining your research background, motivation, and fit for the CRISQuaM project.
- Contact information (names, affiliations, and email addresses) of two academic or professional references.
Last Date for Apply
The closing date for submission of applications is October 15, 2026.
