Research Fellow at Charles Darwin University: Join Charles Darwin University as a Research Fellow in the field of Threatened Species Bycatch. The appointment is until March 2025, offering a salary range of $71,277 to $106,933 per annum plus 17% superannuation.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD in biological sciences or fisheries science, with expertise in working with fisheries.
- Experience in remote area boat-based fieldwork, including surveying, sampling, and handling marine megafauna.
- Proficiency in handling and analyzing complex ecological or biological datasets using R.
- Track record of delivering effective presentations and reports to industry, research colleagues, government, and the wider community.
- Demonstrated ability to publish scientific research in international journals.
Job Description: As a Research Fellow – Threatened Species Bycatch, you will contribute to a research project aimed at mitigating the bycatch of threatened species in Northern Australian gillnet fisheries. Collaborating with the commercial fishing industry, the Northern Territory Government, and the Western Australian Government, you will coordinate three stages of bycatch mitigation device testing: experimental aquarium trials, fishery-independent experimental field trials, and fishery-dependent commercial fishery trials. Additionally, you will assess alternative gear types for commercial barramundi fishing. Responsibilities include data analysis, report and scientific manuscript writing, workshop organization, and engagement and outreach activities.
