Five Fully-Funded PhD Positions: The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Chalmers University of Technology and the University of Gothenburg is offering five fully-funded PhD positions. Candidates will work on cutting-edge projects in machine learning, autonomous systems, software engineering, formal methods, and network security. These positions are supported by the Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems, and Software Program (WASP), Sweden’s largest individual research program.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • A Master’s degree (equivalent to at least 240 ECTS) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Job Description

Selected candidates will:

  • Conduct independent research leading to a PhD degree over approximately five years (including 20% departmental duties like teaching assistance).
  • Work under the mentorship of a primary supervisor, with support from a co-supervisor and examiner.
  • Participate in the WASP graduate school with opportunities for courses, international networking, and research visits.
  • Write and publish scientific articles, develop and test software prototypes, and collaborate with industry and academia.
  • Take advanced courses and present research results through papers and conferences.

Each PhD position is aligned with a specific project:

  1. Reducing waste in tabular machine learning by generalizing out-of-table (Supervisor: Fredrik Johansson)
  2. Using Large Language Models to Augment Software Test Suites (Supervisor: Gregory Gay)
  3. Adaptive Runtime Monitoring for AI-Based Autonomy (Supervisors: Hazem Torfah and D. Dubhashi)
  4. Secure Networks for Distributed AI Training (Supervisor: Muoi Tran)
  5. Symbolic Reactive Synthesis on Planning Domains (Supervisor: Nir Piterman)
