Four Postdoctoral Positions: Uppsala University’s Department of Chemistry is offering four Postdoctoral positions within the Center of Excellence for Chemical Mechanisms of Life. This center, funded by the Swedish Research Council, aims to provide an in-depth view of the chemical mechanisms essential for sustaining life. The positions are part of an interdisciplinary team collaborating across various chemistry disciplines, with a focus on bioinformatics, mass spectrometry, NMR spectroscopy, cryo-electron microscopy, protein crystallography, biochemistry, analytical chemistry, and organic chemistry.

Designation: Postdoctoral Researcher

Research Area: Chemical Mechanisms of Life

Location: Uppsala, Sweden

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Ph.D. degree in natural or technical sciences.
  • Background in relevant areas such as bioinformatics, mass spectrometry, NMR, cryo-electron microscopy, protein crystallography, biochemistry, analytical chemistry, or organic chemistry.
  • Experience in methodologies and instrumentation related to the chemical mechanisms of life.
  • Ability to collaborate across interdisciplinary settings.
  • Good collaborative skills, motivation, and independence.
  • Relevant qualifications obtained within three years prior to the application deadline.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with MS, NMR, or cryo-EM, computational approaches, or bioinformatics is meriting.
  • Experience in cellular metabolism, cell handling, biochemical sample preparation, organic synthesis, data handling, statistics, programming, pathway analysis, and scientific writing are strong merits.
  • Scores from IELTS or TOEFL are desirable but not mandatory at the time of applying.

  • Conduct high-quality research in collaboration with the Chemical Mechanisms of Life Center.
  • Act as a link between research groups, contributing to center activities.
  • Use advanced methodologies and instrumentation to pinpoint chemical mechanisms of life.
  • Collaborate with PhD students, researchers, and groups in an interdisciplinary setting.
  • Write publications, grant applications, and participate in outreach activities.
