Eligibility / Qualification
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in:
- Civil Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Or a closely related field
- Research experience or strong interest in:
- Computational mechanics
- Fracture and damage modeling
- Structural health monitoring
- Durability of concrete
- Preferred Skills (Plus, not mandatory):
- Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
- Applied mathematics
- MATLAB
- Python
Job Description
The selected PhD student will:
- Conduct advanced research on concrete durability using mechanics-based approaches
- Develop and apply computational and numerical models
- Work on fracture, damage, and interface mechanics of cement-based materials
- Contribute to structural health monitoring methodologies
- Publish research findings in high-impact journals and conferences
- Collaborate with faculty and research team members at USF
