Eligibility/Qualification
Qualified candidates should hold at least a bachelor’s degree in biology, entomology, or a related field. Preference will be given to candidates with prior research experience, either through a master’s degree or undergraduate research. Students from underrepresented backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.
Job Description
The successful candidate will conduct research on the evolutionary physiology of seasonality in the globally invasive insect, Drosophila suzukii. The research involves field work and experiments to study seasonal polyphenisms and the evolution of overwintering traits. Collaborations with the University of Vermont and Northeastern University will involve population genetics and evolutionary modeling of these traits. The Department of Entomology at the University of Kentucky provides an excellent and nationally recognized graduate training environment, fostering a collegial and collaborative atmosphere.
