Scholarship Description:

Graduate Research Assistantship at MS/Ph.D. Level (Spring/Fall 2024)

This Graduate Research Assistantship offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with Dr. Pappu Kumar Yadav on cutting-edge research projects in precision agriculture. The research areas include the utilization of remote and proximal sensing technologies like multispectral, hyperspectral, and fluorescence imaging systems, as well as unmanned aircraft and ground vehicles, computer vision, embedded systems, IoT, artificial intelligence, and robotics. The scholarship’s focus is on enhancing crop disease detection, weed identification, precision spray applications, and advancing crop phenotyping for global food security and sustainability. The selected student is expected to disseminate their findings through peer-reviewed journals and conference presentations.

Eligibility: Prospective candidates should meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Hold a BS/MS degree in Agricultural & Biosystems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or closely related disciplines with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, CircuitPython, MATLAB, C, and C++.
  • Experience or interest in one or more of the following areas: Computer Vision, Artificial Intelligence, Embedded Systems, Machine Learning (including Deep Learning), Electro-Mechanical Design, Robotics.
  • Non-English credentials must have a valid TOEFL BT score of >= 80 or an IELTS score of >= 6.5.
