Panjab University, Chandigarh, and Panjab University Swami Sarvanand Giri Regional Centre (PUSSGRC), Hoshiarpur, have invited applications for Guest Faculty positions for the Odd Semester of the Academic Session 2026–27. The openings include one Assistant Professor (Guest Faculty) position in Biophysics at the Panjab University Chandigarh campus and one Guest Faculty position in Information Technology at UIET, PUSSGRC, Bajwara, Hoshiarpur.
The assignments are purely temporary and will be paid on a lecture basis with an honorarium of Rs. 1,500 per lecture, subject to a maximum of Rs. 50,000 per month.

Eligibility/Qualification
1. Assistant Professor (Guest Faculty) – Biophysics
Candidates should have:
- A good academic record as defined by the concerned University.
- At least 55% marks, or an equivalent grade, at the Master’s degree level in Biophysics and allied areas from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
- Candidates belonging to SC/ST, Physically & Visually Handicapped, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) and certain Ph.D. holders covered under the notification are eligible for the specified 5% relaxation.
- The candidate must have qualified UGC NET, CSIR NET, SLET/SET, or hold a Ph.D. awarded in accordance with UGC regulations, subject to the applicable provisions.
Candidates registered for a Ph.D. programme before 11 July 2009 may be exempted from the NET/SLET/SET requirement if the specified conditions concerning the mode of Ph.D., thesis evaluation, viva voce, publications and conference/seminar presentations are fulfilled and certified by the Registrar/Dean (Academic Affairs).
2. Guest Faculty – Information Technology
Candidates should have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology in first-class division, or equivalent grade, in:
- Information Technology
- Computer Science
- Computer Science & Engineering
- Equivalent discipline
- Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology in first-class division, or equivalent grade, in the relevant disciplines.
- M.E./M.Tech. with specialization in any relevant field of Information Technology, Computer Science or Computer Science & Engineering is also eligible.
- A 5% relaxation at both Bachelor’s and Master’s levels is applicable to candidates belonging to SC/ST categories.
Desirable Qualifications – Information Technology
The following may be considered desirable:
- Ph.D. in a relevant subject from an Indian or accredited foreign university in accordance with applicable UGC regulations.
- Research papers published in refereed/UGC-CARE-listed journals.
- Teaching, research, industrial and/or professional experience in a reputed organization.
Job Description
Biophysics
The selected Guest Faculty member will teach courses for B.Sc. (Hons.) and M.Sc. (Hons.) Biophysics during the Odd Semester of Academic Session 2026–27 at the Department of Biophysics, Panjab University, Chandigarh.
Information Technology
The selected Guest Faculty member will teach the subject of Information Technology at UIET, Panjab University Swami Sarvanand Giri Regional Centre, Bajwara, Hoshiarpur, during the Odd Semester of Academic Session 2026–27.
Both assignments are purely temporary and will be undertaken on a lecture basis.
Honorarium
The Guest Faculty positions carry an honorarium of:
Rs. 1,500 per lecture, subject to an upper limit of Rs. 50,000 per month.
Candidates are required to give an undertaking that they will not draw any fellowship, stipend or other financial assistance from any agency while teaching as Guest Faculty in the Department of Biophysics, Panjab University.
Candidates already availing JRF scholarships at the University are not entitled to the honorarium but may be issued an experience certificate for Guest Faculty service.
For the Hoshiarpur position, no T.A./D.A. will be paid for attending the interview.
