Scholarship Description

HealthBRIDGE is designed to develop the next generation of leaders in biomedical research. Funded under the MRC’s Doctoral Landscape Award (DLA) framework, this 1+3-year model provides:

• A structured foundation year providing core interdisciplinary research techniques, coursework, and laboratory rotations, followed by a three-year doctoral project.
• Comprehensive financial support, which typically includes full tuition fees, a tax-free annual living stipend, and a research training support grant (RTSG) for laboratory consumables and conference travel.
• Access to Imperial College London’s state-of-the-art biomedical facilities, translation infrastructure, and cross-faculty supervision.
• Extensive professional development, cohort activities, and networking opportunities across academic, clinical, and industrial sectors.

Eligibility and Qualifications

• Applicants must hold (or be on track to obtain) a first-class or upper second-class UK Honours degree (or international equivalent) in a relevant scientific discipline such as biological sciences, medicine, biomedical sciences, chemistry, physical sciences, engineering, mathematics, or data science.
• A relevant Master’s degree or prior laboratory/computational research experience is advantageous but not strictly mandatory for the 1+3 format.
• Candidates must satisfy Imperial College London’s standard English language proficiency requirements.
• The programme is open to candidates interested in cohort-based biomedical research aligned with MRC research priorities.
