IMPRS – Biological Intelligence PhD Program: The International Max Planck Research School for Biological Intelligence (IMPRS-BI) offers a prestigious PhD program in collaboration with Ludwig-Maximillians University (LMU) and the Technical University of Munich (TUM). Graduates are awarded the “Dr. rer. nat.” or “Ph.D.” degree, depending on their institution. The program is designed for students to complete their doctoral research within four years, supported by rigorous scientific training and professional development opportunities.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Applicants should possess a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in biology, medicine, or related fields.
  • Candidates must demonstrate strong scientific interest and proficiency in English.

Job Description:
IMPRS-BI students will focus primarily on their doctoral research projects, guided by a direct advisor and supported by a Thesis Advisory Committee (TAC). Alongside research, students are required to complete a tailored curriculum of scientific training, transferable skills workshops, and mandatory elements such as ethics courses and regular TAC meetings. The doctoral thesis must be composed in English, and students will also participate in conferences, workshops, and additional training to enhance their career prospects.

  1. Verify eligibility.
  2. Register at the online portal (available from October 01, 2024).
  3. Invite two referees.
  4. Complete the application form.
  5. Upload required documents.
  6. Submit the application by November 10, 2024.

Once referees submit their letters of recommendation, applicants will receive confirmation emails. Please note that only online applications are accepted.
