Eligibility/Qualification

  • Completed academic university degree and a doctorate in biology, biochemistry, agricultural sciences, bioinformatics, or related disciplines by the time of employment.
  • Proven scientific excellence with a molecular biological/genetic or bioinformatics focus.
  • Expertise backed by peer-reviewed publications.
  • Advanced practical experience in one of the specified areas within plant sciences.
  • Ability to conduct teaching duties in agricultural science degree programs (4 semester hours per week).
  • Willingness to engage in collaborative research within plant molecular biology, protein biochemistry, and bioinformatics.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; knowledge of German is advantageous.
  • Motivation to develop an independent research direction with a 2–3 page outline for a potential research project.

Job Description

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to:

  • Establish and lead their own research project in one of the specified areas.
  • Engage in scientific collaborations within an active research community.
  • Combine methodological approaches in molecular genetics/biology, structural biology/protein biochemistry, or bioinformatics.
  • Take advantage of advanced infrastructure, including high-end plant growth chambers, molecular biology laboratories, and high-performance computing resources.
  • Contribute to teaching in agricultural science degree programs.
  • Participate in an optional integration into CRC 1664 – Plant Proteoform Diversity – SNP2Prot.
