International iRTP and iMQRES Scholarship: Macquarie University invites applications for the International Research Training Program (iRTP) and the International Macquarie Research Excellence Scholarship (iMQRES) for Session 1 of 2026. These scholarships aim to support exceptional international graduate research students in priority research areas aligned with the University’s Research Strategy 2035.

Eligibility/Qualification

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a citizen of a country other than Australia or New Zealand and not an Australian permanent resident.
  • Intend to reside in Sydney, Australia during the candidature.
  • Plan to undertake a Master of Research (MRes) or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Session 1 2026 full-time.
  • Meet the admission criteria for the intended program (MRes or PhD).
  • Fulfill the English language requirement for Macquarie research degrees.
  • Have completed their degree at the time of application for both MRes and PhD; applicants in the final semester are ineligible (except Macquarie applicants).
  • Have confirmation of supervision from an eligible Macquarie University researcher.
  • Have a valid visa enabling onshore study in Session 1 2026.

Job Description

Successful applicants will receive:

  • Tuition fee offset for a maximum of three years.
  • A living allowance stipend of $39,700 per annum for up to three years.
  • A travel concession applied to their local transport OPAL card (for PhD iRTP applicants).
