Irène Curie Fellowship: The Decentralized Artificial Intelligence Research Lab (DARL) at Eindhoven University of Technology announces the Irène Curie Fellowship, offering two PhD positions in the pioneering field of decentralized AI for health diagnostics. These positions are part of the AiNed Fellowship project “Private Ears, Shared Insights” funded by the NWO, aiming to advance AI’s capabilities while preserving user privacy.

Study Area: Industrial Design

Location: Eindhoven University of Technology, Netherlands

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • A master’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Mathematics, Machine Learning, or a related technical field.
  • Strong background in deep learning with a drive to advance fundamental techniques.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English (C1).
  • Motivation to push the frontier of audio and speech understanding, on-device learning, pre-training strategies, physics-informed neural networks, healthcare, and high-tech systems.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and software engineering skills.
  • Collaborative spirit and ability to work in an interdisciplinary team.
  • Android/iOS programming experience is advantageous.
  • Willingness to develop teaching skills and coach Master students.

Description: The selected candidates will work on cutting-edge research topics:

  1. Federated Audio Foundation Models: Advancing pre-training techniques with unlabeled private data for label efficiency, rapid adaptation, and more.
  2. Domain Knowledge-Augmented Representation Learning: Integrating clinical domain knowledge to improve data efficiency and generalizability.
