Job Description:
- Investigate microbial controls on soil carbon changes under climate change.
- Utilize land surface models, observations, and machine learning to diagnose and improve carbon use efficiency (CUE).
- Benchmark and constrain the simulated spatial pattern of CUE using a novel global database.
- Improve the model’s response to global change drivers based on microbial biomass and soil respiration observations.
- Apply enhanced models to quantify the future response of soil carbon to climate change.
Work Location:
- The PhD will be jointly hosted by LSCE and University of Exeter.
- Minimum one year at each location.
Starting Date: Autumn 2024 (flexible)
