Joint PhD Position: Embark on a transformative PhD journey investigating microbial controls on soil carbon changes under climate change. Job Description:

  • Investigate microbial controls on soil carbon changes under climate change.
  • Utilize land surface models, observations, and machine learning to diagnose and improve carbon use efficiency (CUE).
  • Benchmark and constrain the simulated spatial pattern of CUE using a novel global database.
  • Improve the model’s response to global change drivers based on microbial biomass and soil respiration observations.
  • Apply enhanced models to quantify the future response of soil carbon to climate change.

Work Location:

  • The PhD will be jointly hosted by LSCE and University of Exeter.
  • Minimum one year at each location.

Starting Date: Autumn 2024 (flexible)
