Eligibility/Qualification
Qualification | Description |
---|---|
Degree | Doctoral degree in Virology, Microbiology, Infectiology, or related fields. A pharmacist or medical degree is a plus. |
Experience | Minimum of 3 years of postdoctoral experience with proven leadership in virology research. |
Laboratory Expertise | Experience in BSL3 settings, including viral isolation and animal model use, is highly desirable. |
Communication Skills | Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; French is an advantage. |
Funding Management | Demonstrated ability to attract and manage funded research projects. |
Research Area
- Arboviruses (Dengue, Zika, Chikungunya, Japanese Encephalitis)
- Respiratory viral infections (Seasonal Influenza, Avian Influenza, COVID-19)
- Zoonotic and emerging pathogens (Coronaviruses, hantavirus, Nipah virus)
- Rabies and other viruses (including enteroviruses and hepatitis viruses)
Job Description
The Junior Scientist will dedicate 70% of their time to research and 30% to managing the BSL3 laboratory. The key responsibilities include:
Research and Scientific Development (70%)
- Lead high-impact research projects focused on viral diseases.
- Design and implement innovative research methodologies.
- Utilize advanced laboratory techniques and oversee the integration of new technologies.
- Analyze complex data sets and promote the use of advanced data analysis techniques.
- Collaborate with national and international partners and ensure effective dissemination of research findings.
BSL3 Scientific Management (30%)
- Oversee daily operations of the BSL3 laboratory, ensuring compliance with biosafety protocols.
- Promote a culture of safety and develop biosafety training programs.
- Conduct risk assessments in collaboration with researchers and maintain ISO35001:2019 certification.
