Eligibility/Qualification

Non-clinician Applicants:

  • At least Second Upper, preferably First-class honours degree or equivalent in a relevant field. A Master’s degree is advantageous.

Clinician Applicants:

  • Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or Doctor of Medicine (MD) with identifiable research experience (preferably in the form of a Master’s degree).

Test Score Requirements:

  • TOEFL/IELTS: Required for international applicants (Recommended score: TOEFL: 100/237/600 or IELTS: 6.5).
  • GRE: Required for applicants who are not graduates from autonomous universities in Singapore (Recommended score: Verbal + Quantitative ≥ 319 and Analytical Writing ≥ 3.5).

Description

The LKCMedicine PhD by Research Programme comprises three distinctive features that contribute to a transformative educational experience:

  1. Laboratory Rotations
  2. Global Health Awareness Attachment or Clinical Awareness Attachment
  3. Choice between three unique research training pathways: Mainstream, Industry Aligned, or Strategic University Partner.

Graduates will gain in-depth expertise in scientific fundamentals and translational medical research techniques, preparing them for a successful career in research.

How to Apply

Prospective students must submit their applications online via the official NTU application portal. Before applying, applicants must contact and obtain an agreement for PhD supervision from their proposed supervisors. Required supporting documents must be prepared as per the application checklist available on the LKCMedicine website.

Last Date to Apply

  • Semester 1 (August Intake): Applications open from October 1 to January 31.
  • Semester 2 (January Intake): Applications open from June 1 to July 31.
