Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoc Fellowships: The SyMeCo Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoc Fellowships offer an exceptional research, training, and career development opportunity for postdoctoral researchers. This two-year fellowship program provides individual research projects under the guidance of leading Lero researchers. Fellows have the freedom to choose their research proposal topic within the broad SyMeCo program themes and the research interests of eligible SyMeCo supervisors. The program includes a secondment period in the non-academic or academic sector, comprehensive skills training, and career development opportunities. Up to 16 fellowships will be awarded in the 1st call.

Research Area: Software, Computer Science, or related disciplines

Location: Based in Ireland, hosted by SyMeCo supervisor’s host institution

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Postdoctoral researchers as per the Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions (MSCA) definition, holding a PhD degree.
  • Compliance with the mobility rule: Applicants must not have resided or carried out their main activity in Ireland for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately before the call deadline.
  • Applicants from any nationality and disciplinary background are welcome, as long as they meet the program’s eligibility criteria and mobility rule.
  • Researchers at Risk are encouraged to apply.

Job Description: The selected fellows will:

  • Undertake individual research projects within the SyMeCo program themes.
  • Have the opportunity to choose their research proposal topic within the program’s broad scope and in line with the interests of an eligible SyMeCo supervisor.
  • Experience a secondment period in the non-academic or academic sector to support research and career advancement aspirations.
  • Participate in comprehensive discipline-specific and transferable skills training, including communication, public engagement, and outreach activities.
  • Contribute to the SyMeCo research community and mentor junior lab members.
  • Prepare publications and present their work at international conferences.
  • Apply for grants and develop collaborative projects.

Evaluation & Selection Process: Fellows will be recruited through an internationally advertised open call for proposals. The selection process will be open, transparent, and merit-based, involving international peer review and interviews.

Employment as a SyMeCo Fellow:

  • Total gross salary: €50,124 per annum (without family allowance) and €56,604 per annum (with family allowance).
  • Family allowance is applicable based on the MSCA WP 2021-2022 family definition.
  • Supporting documentation may be requested to confirm eligibility for the family allowance.
