Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Master’s Applicants: Must have a background in Biology.
  • PhD Applicants: Should apply to the Biomedical Science PhD program at ETSU (See program details here).
  • Transcripts: One unofficial transcript (Official transcripts required upon program acceptance). Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Recommendations: Three recommendations submitted through the online application.
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV).
  • English Proficiency Requirements: TOEFL 79 (iBT) or IELTS 6.5. GRE scores are not required.
  • Personal Statement (maximum 1000 words): Describe prior research experience, research interests at ETSU, and career goals.

During the review process, a personal interview may be required. Admission decisions will be made by the Recruitment and Admissions Subcommittee of the Biomedical Science Program based on the applicant’s ability to excel in advanced Biomedical Science studies.

Job Description: Successful candidates will have the opportunity to participate in two major research projects:

  1. Investigating the mechanisms controlling health-beneficial products in plants and employing genetic engineering to enhance crop nutritional quality.
  2. Developing synthetic platforms for the production of pharmaceutical proteins.
