Master and PhD Positions: The Tianhu Sun lab at East Tennessee State University (ETSU) invites highly motivated applicants for Master (in Biology) and PhD (Biomedical Science) positions in the field of plant synthetic biology. Full scholarships will be provided to PhD students. Join our innovative research team to explore two major projects: 1. understanding the mechanisms controlling health-beneficial products in plants and enhancing crop nutritional quality through genetic engineering, and 2. developing synthetic platforms for pharmaceutical protein production. Eligibility/Qualification:

  • For Master’s: Bachelor’s degree in Biology or related field
  • For PhD (Biomedical Science): Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • 3 recommendations (to be submitted through the online application)

  • English Proficiency Requirements: TOEFL 79 (iBT) or IELTS 6.5 (if applicable)
  • GRE score not required

Job Description: As a Master’s or PhD student in the Tianhu Sun lab, you will be part of cutting-edge research projects in plant synthetic biology. These projects aim to unravel the mechanisms controlling health-beneficial products in plants and leverage genetic engineering to enhance crop nutritional quality. Additionally, you will work on developing synthetic platforms for the production of pharmaceutical proteins.
