MCEM Post-Doctoral Fellow: The Division of Physical Sciences and Engineering at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Saudi Arabia, invites applications for a Postdoctoral fellow in Mechanical Engineering at the Mechanics of Composites for Energy and Mobility Lab (MCEM).
Post-Doctoral fellow in Multi-physics simulation of hydrogen diffusion in polymers/composites
Designation: Post-Doctoral Fellow
Research Area: Multi-physics simulation of hydrogen diffusion in polymers/composites
Location: King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Saudi Arabia
Eligibility/Qualification:
The successful candidate must hold a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, or other relevant discipline. Strong background in multi-physics simulation, fracture, damage mechanics, and polymeric materials is required. Knowledge of testing at extreme conditions, high pressure, and temperatures is a plus. An in-depth knowledge of theoretical mechanics is a firm requirement. Excellent oral and written English skills, ability to work in a team or alone, and good organizational skills are essential.
Job Description:
The post-doctoral fellow will conduct research in the area of engineered thermoplastic composite tanks for hydrogen storage. This involves understanding/simulating diffusion paths and cavitation in thermoplastic liners, multi-physics simulation of the diffusion process in thermoplastic orthotropic composites, and understanding rapid gas decompression damage modes and their influence on liner integrity. Additionally, the fellow will mentor students, develop laboratory facilities, and deliver regular reports related to associated grants.
