(MD-)PhD in Clinical Epidemiology: The Clinical Research Global Health (CRGH) group at the University of Basel is inviting applications for a PhD position focused on the management of HIV viraemia in Lesotho. This fully funded position is part of an initiative to enhance evidence-based decision-making in health care and public health within the context of HIV treatment.

Eligibility/Qualification
- Master’s degree in Medicine, Biology, Pharmacy, or a closely related field.
- Applicants without a Master’s in a biomedical discipline must provide evidence of knowledge in HIV epidemiology and treatment.
- Excellent communication skills in spoken and written English.
- Strong motivation and aptitude for quantitative analyses; familiarity with statistical software (e.g., R, Stata) is an advantage.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills to manage international projects.
- Ability to work independently and in interdisciplinary teams.
- Willingness to undertake multi-month research stays in Lesotho.
Job Description
- Plan and implement a randomized controlled trial (RCT).
- Conduct data management and quantitative analysis.
- Oversee project management and contribute to broader research activities.
- Present and publish findings at scientific conferences and in peer-reviewed journals.
- Collaborate within international, interdisciplinary teams.
- Contribute to teaching and mentoring activities in the Division of Clinical Epidemiology.
