Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow (MedTrain+ Programme): The University of Galway’s CÚRAM, SFI Research Centre for Medical Devices, invites applications for 50 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships (PFs) under the MedTrain+ Programme. This prestigious fellowship offers experienced researchers the opportunity to advance their careers in medical device research and development over a 36-month period. Positions are available starting from April 2025.

Designation: Postdoctoral Fellow (Level 1 & Level 2)

Research Area: Medical Device Development with a focus on Immuno-Engineering, aligned with clinical pillars including cardiovascular-renal-metabolic, neural-musculoskeletal, cancer, and inflammatory disorders.

Eligibility/Qualification:

Level 1:

  • Hold a doctoral degree with 0-4 years of postdoctoral research experience or >4 years of full-time equivalent research experience in relevant CÚRAM research areas.
  • Must not have resided or carried out their main activity in Ireland for more than 12 months in the three years prior to the submission deadline (21st October 2024).
  • At least one research publication as an author in a peer-reviewed journal.

Level 2:

  • Hold a doctoral degree with >4 years of postdoctoral research experience or >8 years of full-time equivalent research experience in relevant CÚRAM research areas.
  • Must not have resided or carried out their main activity in Ireland for more than 12 months in the three years prior to the submission deadline (21st October 2024).
  • At least three senior author research publications, evidence of acquired funding, and evidence of engaging with the scientific community.

Job Description:
The MedTrain+ programme offers a comprehensive career development opportunity for experienced researchers through a three-phase fellowship. Fellows will undertake research at a host organization, a secondment in a non-academic sector, and return to the host organization. The fellowship includes high-level training in research, complementary, and transferable skills, ensuring a robust foundation for a career in academia, industry, or the public sector. Fellows will work on innovative projects in medical device development with a focus on immunoengineering, aligning with one of the specified clinical pillars.
