Research Area
This project aims to identify and mitigate methane emissions from wastewater management processes, including sewage networks and wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs). The research will involve using advanced technologies, such as highly sensitive LiDAR, alongside innovative biological treatment methods.

The research will be conducted at the University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague, situated in the Czech Republic.
Eligibility/Qualification
- A degree (Ing. or Mgr.) in Chemical or Environmental Engineering.
- Candidates close to graduation (by June 2025) may also apply.
- Demonstrable knowledge and interest in biological processes and biotechnology.
- Experience with mathematical modeling of biological processes is an advantage.
- Independence, motivation, and collaboration skills in a multidisciplinary team.
- English proficiency (spoken and written).
Description
The position involves:
- Identifying methane leak sources in sewer networks and WWTPs.
- Designing a smart unit for preventing methane formation in sewage networks through aeration.
- Creating an advanced mathematical model to eliminate methane emissions.
- Developing biofilters to oxidize methane from waste gases and convert it into biomass.
- Collaborating with senior staff and the Prague water utility company for real-world testing.
