- One (1) MRIWA Odwyn Jones PhD Scholarship: Focuses on Precision and Low Impact Mining to advance safer, more efficient mining through precision technologies and reduced environmental footprints.
- Two (2) MRIWA PhD Scholarships: Covering targeted focus areas:
- Alternative Use of Tailings and Waste: Advancing circular economy solutions and resource efficiency for critical minerals.
- Net Zero Emission Mining and Green Steel: Decarbonising mining and mineral processing through clean energy, innovation, and low-emissions technology.
- Two (2) MRIWA PhD Scholarships for Women: Supporting women-led research in:
- Any MRIWA focus area.
- Net Zero Emission Mining and Green Steel focus areas.

Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be eligible for admission or currently enrolled in an accredited PhD program at a participating university in Western Australia.
- Research proposals must align directly with the strategic focus areas of MRIWA and demonstrate clear benefit/impact for Western Australia’s minerals sector.
- For the Women in Research stream, applicants must identify as women conducting relevant minerals research.
- Applicants across all technical, economic, environmental, social, and policy perspectives relevant to the minerals sector are encouraged to apply.
