MS or PhD Scientist: The Allen USDA lab at the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center is offering a MS or PhD position as part of the Gates AG One-funded project, “Realizing Increased Photosynthetic Efficiency” (RIPE). The successful candidate will join a dynamic team of scientists and engineers to explore improved photosynthesis in plants through innovative approaches.

MS or PhD Scientist – Allen (USDA) Lab

Study Area: Biochemistry, Plant Biology, Agricultural Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Analytical Chemistry, or related fields.

Location: Donald Danforth Plant Science Center, St. Louis, Missouri, USA

Eligibility/Qualification: Candidates should possess a MS or PhD in biochemistry, plant biology, agricultural engineering, chemical engineering, analytical chemistry, or closely aligned fields. Strong written and oral communication skills are required. Preference will be given to candidates with a background in plant metabolism, photosynthesis, mass spectrometry, and isotopic labeling experiments. However, dedication, independence, problem-solving skills, and quick learning abilities are crucial.

Description: The incumbent will contribute to the RIPE project by conducting experiments in metabolomics and isotopic labeling to assess photosynthetic carbon assimilation, cellular metabolism, and lipid metabolism. Responsibilities include method development, data analysis, hypothesis generation, report writing, mentoring, and presentation of research findings at professional meetings.
