Eligibility & Qualifications

Mandatory MSCA Eligibility Criteria

  1. No PhD: Applicants must not already hold a doctoral degree at the time of recruitment.
  2. Degree Requirement: Must hold a relevant Master’s degree (M.Sc. or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related discipline by the time employment begins.
  3. MSCA Mobility Rule: Applicants of any nationality may apply, but must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Finland for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately preceding the start date.
  4. Doctoral Enrollment: Must be eligible for and obtain admission to the doctoral program at Tampere University within 6 months of starting.
  5. Language: Excellent proficiency in written and spoken English.

Desired Skills & Profile

  • Solid background in signal processing, digital/analog circuit design, or DSP hardware.
  • Experience with numerical modeling tools (e.g., MATLAB, Python).
  • Hands-on familiarity with ASIC/EDA tools (e.g., Cadence Virtuoso, ModelSim, HDL simulation & synthesis) or FPGA/RF-SoC prototyping.
  • Prior tape-out experience is considered an advantage.

Scholarship / Position Description

  • Full Funding: 36-month employment contract governed by the MSCA framework and the Finnish University Salary System.
  • Supervision & Mentorship: Guided by a supervisory team including Asst. Prof. Vishnu Unnikrishnan, Assoc. Prof. Bo Tan, Prof. Elena Simona Lohan, and Prof. Mikko Valkama, alongside Prof. Izzat Darwazeh at UCL.
