MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship: UiT The Arctic University of Norway invites applications for a MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship in Enzyme and Resistance Evolution within the framework of “The Arctic MSCA-PF program.” This program aims to recruit outstanding young researchers planning to apply for a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship (MSCA-PF) to pursue research in the field of Enzyme and Antibiotic Evolution.
Designation: Postdoctoral Researcher
Research Area: Enzyme and Antibiotic Resistance Evolution
Location: UiT The Arctic University of Norway, Tromsø, Norway
Eligibility/Qualification:
- Ph.D. or equivalent in Biological Sciences
- Maximum of 8 years full-time equivalent experience in research at the time of the call deadline
- Excellent proficiency in English
- Strong background in β-lactamases, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and directed evolution
- Experience in X-ray crystallography and structural biology
Job Description: The selected candidate will collaborate with Dr. Christopher Frøhlich in preparing a 24-month MSCA-PF application. The research focuses on β-lactamases and their role in AMR, including directed evolution, enzymology, and structural biology. Current projects involve developing novel metallo-β-lactamase inhibitors, investigating β-lactamase-mediated resistance evolution, and exploring enzyme adaptation in AMR through directed evolution and structural analysis.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Dr. Frøhlich in writing the MSCA-PF application
- Present past research achievements and discuss future plans at the MSCA-PF symposium
- Conduct research projects related to Enzyme and Antibiotic Resistance Evolution
- Analyze enzyme structures using X-ray crystallography
- Develop metallo-β-lactamase inhibitors and investigate resistance evolution
- Examine trade-offs in AMR evolution
- Submit CV and a research project proposal by Feb 16th, 2024, to christopher.frohlich@uit.no
How to Apply: Interested candidates should send their CV (max 3 pages) and a research project proposal (max 2 pages) to christopher.frohlich@uit.no by Feb 16th, 2024. Mark the application “Arctic MSCA.” Successful candidates will be contacted in late March 2024.
