One PhD and Two Postdoc Positions: The Geohazards Group at Charles University in Prague is currently hiring for one PhD and two Postdoc positions to study thermal effects in landslides. PhD and Postdoc Positions in Thermal Effects on Landslides

1) PhD Position

Designation: PhD Researcher

Research Area: Thermal Effects in Landslides

Location: Charles University, Prague

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Strong background in soil mechanics and constitutive modeling
  • Degree in geotechnical engineering or equivalent
  • Experience in relevant topics through academic achievements or thesis

Job Description: The selected candidate will work on incorporating novel experimental insights and field data into physically-based models. The focus is on reproducing and predicting landslide behaviors at slope and catchment scales under thermo-hydro-mechanical conditions. The position is fully funded for up to 4 years with a net salary of 1100 EUR/month (research assistant position) and an additional PhD scholarship of up to 600 EUR/month.

2) Postdoc Positions (Two Positions)

Designation: Postdoctoral Researchers

Research Area: Thermo-Hydro-Mechanical Modeling of Geomaterials, Landslides, and Climate Change

Location: Charles University, Prague

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Track record of publications, grants, and scientific results in the relevant field
  • Outstanding skills in constitutive and numerical modeling of landslide processes
  • Expertise in advanced experimental soil mechanics, preferably with a focus on clay soils

Job Description: The selected candidates will contribute to cross-scale modeling under thermo-hydro-mechanical conditions. Independent thinking and developing original solutions are expected. The fellowship duration is 12 months, renewable based on performance, with a net salary of 1750 EUR/month (postdoctoral position).
