Open Positions in Computational Synthetic Biology, I²SysBio, Valencia, Spain

Postdoc in Spain

Open Positions in Computational Synthetic Biology: The Institute for Integrative Systems Biology (I²SysBio) in Valencia, Spain, is offering two open positions in the Computational Synthetic Biology Group, funded by the ERC Project CellWise. This initiative aims to advance predictability in the design, analysis, and control of stochastic biomolecular circuits, with a focus on engineering cellular cognition.

Designation

  1. Fully Funded PhD Position (4 years)
  2. Postdoctoral Position (2 years)

Research Area

  • Computational Synthetic Biology
  • Stochastic Biomolecular Circuits
  • Cellular Cognition Engineering

Location

Institute for Integrative Systems Biology (I²SysBio), Valencia, Spain

Eligibility/Qualification

PositionRequired Qualification
PhD PositionMSc in Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, or related fields; strong theoretical and computational skills; background in PDEs or PIDEs, stochastic modeling, and machine learning valued.
Postdoctoral PositionMSc in Biology, Biotechnology, or related disciplines; expertise in microbial synthetic biology and single-cell time-lapse fluorescence microscopy valued.

Description

The primary goals of the CellWise project are:

  1. Enable predictive design of biocircuits with complex functions, addressing noise and uncertainty.
  2. Understand and control nonlinear emergent behaviors in stochastic biomolecular networks.
