Open Postdoc Position – The Wallenberg Initiative Materials Science for Sustainability (WISE) in Sweden is seeking an experienced postdoctoral researcher to study materials with self-organized immobilized fluid-fluid interfaces. The research project will focus on Liquid-Infused Materials (LMs), which use a periodic solid scaffold to lock liquid droplets, with the goal of characterizing the potential of using LIMs for capturing CO2.
Designation: Postdoctoral Researcher
Research Area: Materials Science, Transport Process Characterisation
Location: Sweden
Eligibility/Qualification: Candidates should have a Ph.D. degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related fields. They should have a strong background in transport phenomena, materials synthesis, and experimental methods. Candidates with experience in theoretical and numerical modeling are preferred.
Job Description: The successful candidate will work on a research project focused on immobilizing liquid droplets and evaluating the mass transfer properties of LIMs with few droplets to more than 40,000 droplets (~10 microns). The candidate will determine liquid-liquid mass transfer rates for different flow conditions by combining experiments with theoretical and numerical modeling. The final goal is to characterize the potential of using LIMs for capturing CO2.
The postdoctoral researcher will work under the supervision of Professor Shervin Bagher at FLOW & KTH Engineering Mechanics. The researcher will be a part of the WISE program, which includes seminars, courses, research visits, and other activities to promote a strong multi-disciplinary and international network between PhD students, postdocs, researchers, and industry.
