Open Postdoctoral Fellow: A postdoctoral fellow position is open at the Université de Sherbrooke for a researcher to develop nanostructured silicon as anode materials for lithium-ion batteries (LiBs) and solid electrolytes (polymers) using electrochemical measurements and various spectroscopic techniques.

The selected candidate will be responsible for materials design and synthesis, characterization, battery fabrication and testing, and mentoring and training of graduate and undergraduate students.

Location: Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada

Eligibility/Qualification:

Ph.D. in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science and engineering, or other relevant fields. Experience in (experimental) Li-ion batteries is mandatory. Experience with the electrochemical characterization, such as cyclic voltammetry, AC impedance spectroscopy, and galvanostatic cycling. Experience with material characterization techniques, such as SEM/EDS, TEM, XPS, and XRD.

Job Description:

  • Materials design and synthesis, characterization, battery fabrication and testing.
  • Design of experimental tests and analysis of the resulting data
  • Presenting scientific findings at group meetings and conferences
  • Preparing and publishing scientific findings in peer-reviewed journals
  • Mentoring and training of graduate and undergraduate students
  • Preparing research proposals and technical reports
  • Interaction with industrial partners and research funding agencies
  • Preparing and filing patent applications on new inventions
