Open Postdoctoral Fellow Position: The Network sciEnce, Wireless, and Security (NEWS) group at the Bradley Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering of Virginia Tech, in collaboration with the Sanghani Center for Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics at the Computer Science department, is seeking an exceptional Postdoctoral Research Fellow. The fellow will conduct cutting-edge, fundamental research at the intersection of AI/machine learning and networks, with a focus on 6G and beyond. Open Postdoctoral Fellow Position at the Intersection of Al/ML and Wireless Networks (6G and beyond)
The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will have the following responsibilities:
- Conduct cutting-edge, fundamental research at the intersection of AI/machine learning and networks, focusing on 6G and beyond.
- Utilize tools from other fields such as optimization, topology, and game theory to enhance research outcomes.
- Collaborate with researchers from the AI and wireless communities across the Electrical & Computer Engineering and Computer Science departments.
- Bridge the gap between AI and wireless networks to advance the field.
- Publish research findings in top ML/AI conferences and high-impact IEEE/ACM journals.
- Pursue independent research and contribute to ongoing research areas of the NEWS group and Sanghani Center.
Eligibility/Qualification: Interested candidates should meet the following criteria:
- Hold or expect to obtain a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related disciplines.
- Demonstrate a strong research record through high-quality publications in top ML/AI conferences (e.g., ICML, NeurIPS) and/or high-impact IEEE/ACM journals.
- Possess a strong theoretical background in mathematics and analytical thinking, evidenced by fundamental research in AI/ML and/or wireless systems.
- Exhibit the ability to pursue independent research and a passion for fundamental research.
- Have research experience in AI and machine learning.
- Show interest or experience in applying AI/ML tools to emerging networking problems, such as 6G wireless systems, AI-native wireless networks, semantic communications, and social networks.
- Knowledge of optimization, control theory, or game theory is a plus.
- Possess excellent written and communication skills in English.
